INSECURITY: Pan yoruba group urges Tinubu to tackle menace with competence

A prominent Pan Yoruba socio-cultural group, Think Yoruba First (TYF), has called on President Bola Tinubu's administration to address the growing insecurity in South-West Nigeria with urgency and effectiveness.

In a statement, TYF Secretary, Dr. Bukola Adeniji expressed concern over the escalating violence, kidnappings, and attacks in the region, particularly in border communities in Kogi and Kwara states.

According to the group," Recent incidents, including killings at Oyo Park, abductions in Ondo and Ekiti, and assaults on security personnel in Kwara, warning that the situation threatens commerce, education, and social life.

"We demand that South-West Governors treat the crisis as a regional emergency and implement a Joint Security Architecture, including: Regional Intelligence Fusion & Operations Centre. Forest & Boundary Security Command. Amotekun Standardization & Upgrade. Inter-State Road Security Program. Community Early-Warning & Informant Protection. Victim Support & Ransom-Disruption."

The group also called on the Federal Government to: Develop a national forest-terrain security doctrine. Establish special courts for kidnapping and terror-linked offences. Reinforce policing capacity in the South-West. Implement arms interdiction and corridor control. Provide public accountability and transparency on security efforts

The group urged citizens must not normalize terror-style violence in Yoruba land and urged the government to lead with coordination, competence, and measurable results.
